Coast Protection Maintenance Works

The Parish Office have been notified of the coastal works schedule for October.

These works require favourable tides and weather conditions, which can be
very limited at this site. As this is urgent work, in order to be able to complete within the available working window, it will be necessary for the contractor to work ‘double tidal shifts’, meaning work will be carried out both early or late in the day, or at weekends, during this period.
Due to the timing of low water this week, it is likely that works will be undertaken during the following dates and approximate times: – –
Thursday 3rd October
Friday 4th October
(03:00 – 07:00) and (16:00 – 20:00)
(04:00 – 08:00) and (16:00 – 20:00)
Please note, depending on the rate of progress, it is also possible that works may need to be undertaken at the weekend: –
Saturday 5th October
(05:00 – 09:00) and (17:00 – 21:00)

This involves timber maintenance and beach recharge in the groyne bays further west, next to the toilet block. Part of these works will involve piling timber piles into the beach to strengthen one of the timber groynes, which has been further damaged by the recent storm, and is otherwise likely to shortly fail (see plan below).
Please note: this work requires the use of a piling hammer to drive the new piles, which generates noise during its operation.
